Your LTH Autumn What’s On Guide…
Big names, blockbuster musicals and unforgettable live entertainment headline an autumn season for everyone at Loughborough Town Hall.
From gripping true crime and behind-the-headlines investigations to blockbuster musicals, chart-topping music, laugh-out-loud comedy and festive family favourites, Loughborough Town Hall has unveiled one of its most varied and entertaining autumn seasons yet.
Leading the programme is An Intimate Evening with The Voice, as Russell Watson, one of Britain’s most celebrated voices, visits Loughborough on 27 September. Sharing songs alongside stories from a remarkable career that has seen him perform for royalty, top the charts and overcome life-threatening illness, the evening promises a rare insight into one of the UK’s best-loved performers.
Autumn taps into the growing appetite for true crime and real-life investigations with a series of fascinating live events. Former undercover detective and star of Channel 4s Hunted Peter Bleksley opens the programme on 3 September with The Makings of a Murderer, sharing first-hand accounts of infiltrating criminal gangs and investigating some of Britain’s most dangerous murder cases.
Former MI6 intelligence officer Matthew Dunn then takes audiences behind the scenes of Britain’s secret intelligence service with Operation MI6 on 17 October, before renowned forensic pathologist Dr Richard Shepherd returns on 3 November with Time of Death: More Unnatural Causes, offering remarkable insight into the investigations behind some of the country’s most high-profile and mysterious deaths.
From one crime scene to another, the spotlight turns to the King Power Stadium as Premier League-winning Leicester City legends Wes Morgan and Robert Huth reunite on 10 November for an evening of stories, memories and behind-the-scenes insight from one of the most extraordinary seasons in football history.
The season also showcases an outstanding programme of musical theatre, with four of the area’s most accomplished theatre companies bringing major productions to the stage. LAOS opens with the Olivier Award-winning Come From Away from 8–12 September, followed by CTC’s explosive production of We Will Rock You from 22–26 September. ESNA presents the timeless family favourite The Sound of Music from 6–10 October before Greasepaint Productions stages Andrew Lloyd Webber’s iconic rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar from 20–24 October.
Some of the UK’s top toe tapping tribute ats will also be making an appearance with performances from Gilbert O’Sullivan, MANIA – The ABBA Tribute, Northern Live, TaylorMania, Luther Live & Velvet Voices, Talon, Buddy Holly & The Cricketers, The Chicago Blues Brothers, The Elvis Years and A Sky Full of Stars, one of the UK’s leading Coldplay tribute productions. Leicester Big Band mark their first visit with The Music of James Bond and a Night at the Movies, celebrating some of cinema’s most memorable soundtracks.
Comedy fans can enjoy a packed programme featuring Carl Hutchinson, Andy Hamilton, Rob Rouse and the hugely popular Chuckl. comedy night, headlined by Milton Jones, while audiences looking for something different can experience Crown Ballet’s spectacular production of Swan Lake, the supernatural storytelling of Hauntings, or dance the night away at the hugely popular Silent Disco for Grown Ups.
And as Christmas is fast approaching (oh no it isn’t, oh yes, it is!) the festive season begins in spectacular style when multi award-winning Little Wolf Entertainment returns with Dick Whittington – the first time Little Wolf have performed this at the Town Hall – running from 21 November until 3 January. The production marks the first time Little Wolf has staged Dick Whittington in Loughborough and the first production of the classic pantomime at the venue since 2013.
With a first-class programme packed with internationally recognised performers, top comedians, acclaimed touring productions and local theatrical talent, Loughborough Town Hall’s autumn season promises to be one of its strongest.
