About the event

10.00 am – 4.00 pm

Create a beautiful autumn woodland picture with just wool, silk and plant fibres.

Enjoy a fun and creative day learning the ancient art of wet felting and go home with a beautiful piece of felted artwork. This workshop is an excellent introduction to the medium of wet felting. You will learn not only how to lay out the wool and felt it, but also how to use different types of wool, yarn and plant fibres to create texture and detail. Karen will discuss the use of colour and layers to create depth in your picture and what additional textile skills can be used to finish to your artwork. Then using just soap and water you will felt all the fibres together to create the final picture. Your finished picture will measure approximately 30x30cm. This workshop is suitable for those who are complete beginners in wet felting, or those who have felted before but wish to learn how to create a detailed picture with depth and perspective.

If you have a favourite picture you would like to create, then do bring it along, otherwise Karen will have some examples for inspiration. All equipment and materials will be provided but please bring 2 hand towels plus a suitable bag to take your damp picture home in.
