The Producers is a musical comedy with music and lyrics by Mel Brooks and a book by Brooks and Thomas Meehan.

Adapted from Brooks’ 1967 film of the same name, this extravagant musical follows the story of two theatrical producers who scheme to get rich by fraudulently overselling interests in a Broadway musical designed to fail!

With a stunning score, spectacular numbers, and a hilarious script, The Producers is a production not to be missed!

About ESNA

ESNA is one of Loughborough’s premier amateur musical theatre societies. Originally known as The Emmanuel, Shelthorpe and Nanpantan Amateurs, then The ESNA Players and now finally just ESNA, came to life in 1965 with our very first musical A Country Girl.

Back then, musicals for amateur societies to perform, were scarce. Titles included Wild Violets, Quaker Girl and White Horse Inn – shows that are rarely performed today.

In recent years, ESNA have been able to get their hands on some brand new releases, direct from the West End, Broadway or professional tour, including; The Addams Family, 9 To 5, The Little Mermaid, and Kinky Boots, which were all regional premieres, as well as our upcoming production of The Great British Bake Off The Musical in 2026.

In 2025, ESNA are celebrating their 60th Anniversary with their productions of Legally Blonde and The Producers.
