'Collaged Landscapes' Workshop by Helen Hallows

Tell a friend:

12th January 2014

Venue: Sock Gallery

Sock Gallery proudly presents a new line of monthly Sunday workshops which will take place from January 2014 onwards. The first will be 'Colaged Landscapes' led by Helen Hallows.

Much of Helen’s work is inspired by the story of landscape and the seasons.  This one day workshop will introduce you to some of the media she uses, including ink and collage.  You’ll be able to create different papers using paint, print with handmade stamps and distress found papers. Combining the papers you create, along with her own collection of vintage papers, you can create your own landscape collage. Helen will talk through the symbols in nature that inspire her; trees, sun and moon and isolated houses.

“Most of my work created in the studio is a design influenced by what I have seen in nature.  I try to capture a moment, and intensify the mood and colours that inspired me.  I take much enjoyment from the media I work with and the happy accidents that happen on my creative journey.  I hope to inspire you, share ideas and free up your creative process so that you can create your own unique way of working and enjoy your creativity.”

The workshop is suitable for those with some experience of painting and drawing. You'll need a willingness to try new things and break the 'rules'! Please note that this workshop will not include the stitched element of Helen’s work. Please bring along landscape images, photos or sketches that inspire you, and any papers you may wish to use.  Materials are included

£50.00 per person, limited availability

10am-4pm, including a 30 minute break. Tea and cakes are included.

This workshop has now sold out but we are offering this workshop again in October 2014 click here for more information.
