About the event

Thirty years after the iconic British film first struck a chord with audiences, The Festival Players in association with Ratby Cooperative Band bring Brassed Off to Loughborough Town Hall – The heart-warming story of a community in crisis – where music becomes a defiant act of hope. In the heart of Yorkshire, the mining community of Grimley is on the brink. The colliery is facing closure, jobs are at stake, and with them the identity of a town and its people. Leading the colliery brass band is Danny who is determined to find a way to keep the band and the soul of the community alive. Enter Gloria, flugelhorn in hand, a symbol of both the past and the possibility of something new.
As tensions rise and relationships are strained to breaking point, the band battles to reach the National Championships at London’s Royal Albert Hall. Join us in February for this powerful celebration of courage, camaraderie, and the big brass band spirit that refuses to be silenced…
THE RATBY COOPERATIVE BAND:
Ratby is a truly unique organisation in the brass world. They are proud to welcome around 200 musicians through their doors each week and encourage new players at all levels of ability. Their bands perform across the country each year in a wide range of concerts and events and compete in regional and national competitions at all levels. The Senior Band is ranked amongst the top 40 bands in the world!
