A new series of jazz concerts with talented local singer Lizzie Cooper and her Trio opens on Tuesday 21 January in the relaxed atmosphere of Loughborough Town Hall’s Sock Gallery. Lizzie will host the evening and perform with her trio of piano, bass and drums. The concert will also feature special guest guitarist Max Brittain.

Lizzie sings standards from the ‘Great American Songbook’ from the 20s, 30s, 40s and 50s, including songs written by Cole Porter, George Gershwin, Irving Berlin, Rodgers and Hart, and Carlos Jobim as well as many others. Lizzie comments, “The sound and tone of my voice, I have been told, is quite distinct. It has a low register and is quite mellow.”

The Jazz Night offers a relaxed experience with an open bar and unreserved seating. The concert begins at 8pm, ending at 10.30pm and tickets are just £5 available here or at the venue box office on 01509 231914. Tickets can also be bought on the door, subject to availability.

Future concerts in the series will feature guest musicians playing saxophones, violin and vibes. See here For further details.
