It’s Raining Men at Loughborough Town Hall

Blind dating is making a comeback this festive season when unsuspecting men in Loughborough Town Hall’s panto audience will be taking to the stage as a stooge! This year’s panto is Dick Whittington and the show’s producers are encouraging the ladies of Loughborough and the surrounding areas to nominate the gents in their lives to take part in the show.

Steve Boden, director of the show, said: “Has your man annoyed you this year by leaving his smelly socks all over the house? If so, we need your help! During each show there will be a very special opportunity for the ladies in the audience to get their own back on the men in their lives, and we are looking for victims, sorry I mean ‘volunteers’, for every show. Our dame Sarah the Cook hasn’t had much luck recently with her internet dating and has decided the only way she will get some male attention is if the ladies of Leicestershire nominate their husband, boyfriend, dad or brother to take to the stage to play a very important role – her boyfriend!”

Nominations (using the downloadable form) for your nearest and dearest should be given directly to the theatre. Call 01509 231914 with the name of your chosen man for Sarah the Cook, along with time and date of the performance they are watching and their seat number, or visit the box office and post the details in the special ‘Dame’s post box”. All stooges must be 18-years-old or over due to health and safety regulations.

The panto, which is about to go into rehearsals, is going to be a magical show that the whole family will love and stars BBC Radio Leicester Drive Time’s Martin Ballard in his fifteenth(!!!) panto as Dame Sarah the Cook, with popular Charlie Guest returning for his third year to play Idle Jack, and Natalie Tulloch as the hero of the tale, Dick Whittington. The show runs from Saturday 24 November 2012 – Sunday 6 January 2013. Tickets are from £7-£14, depending on date and performance time, available here
