\nArtspace Loughborough was founded in 1997 by graduate artists\, mostly from Loughborough College of Art and Design\, to exhibit contemporary art and as an artists’ network. There are currently 16 artists – painters\, sculptors\, printmakers\, mixed media artists – who all live or work in the Charnwood area. They have received many awards. Artists exhibit locally and nationally as a group and as individuals. Several members also teach locally. In 2005\, Artspace exhibited in Venice at the same time as the prestigious Venice Biennale as part of a cultural exchange with a similar Italian artists’ group.

When Greg finds a strange pair of slippers under the bed he decides to follow Ginny when she goes off for a day in the country—supposedly to visit her parents but actually to break things off with her older married lover\, Philip. Showing up unannounced\, Greg asks for her hand from the man he thinks is her father\, while Philip mistakenly believes that the strange young man is asking permission to marry Sheila\, Philip’s exceedingly befuddled wife. The situation is further complicated by a series of hilarious misunderstandings until no one (including the audience) can be exactly sure who’s in love with whom.

This summer holiday Loughborough Town Hall offers you the chance to play your part. \; Join us as we stage a ‘show in a week’. \; \;

6-10 August \; \; 6 to 11 year olds \; \; - \; \; \;focusing on \;the musical Oliver
13-17 August \; \; 10 to 15 year olds \; - \; \;focusing on \;the musical Grease

Show in a Week is a musical workshop for young people led by two fully-trained industry professionals\, with a wealth of experience in improvisation\, physical theatre and performance. \; These workshops will enable the group to learn a range of new skills\, meet new people and have great fun. \; \;

No previous experience is necessary but these workshops will appeal to young people who like singing\, dancing and acting. \; Participants will even learn to make props and create the set. \;

The workshops run from 10.15am to 3.30pm each day\, ending with a short performance on Friday of each week featuring the work generated by the group\, with tickets available from the box office.

Frederic was apprenticed to the Pirates of Penzance because of his nanny's poor hearing\, and on the last day of his indentures\, prepares to become an honest man and set about bringing the crew before the law. He stumbles across a family of sisters and fals in love with Mabel\, but things start to go wrong when he is told his birthday is February 29th\,meaning he has another 40 years as an apprentice.

\;A fast moving night of hilarity ensues as Frederic\, Mabel\, her father\, the Major General\, the pirates and the police battle to make sense of the trickery.
