Literature at Lunchtime: Wide Sargasso Sea by Jean Rhys

Tell a friend:

27th April 2010 - 12 noon

Venue: Loughborough Town Hall

So much more than simply the extension of the story of the first Mrs Rochester in 'Jane Eyre'. Using her own Creole background, Rhys explores the full range of the possible psychology of a woman misunderstood by her English aristocratic husband and in so doing opens the doors to a whole world of understandings and misunderstandings across the sexes and cultures.
