Meet Shirley: a middle-aged liverpudlian housewife. She's in a rut. What has happened to her life? As she prepares chips and egg for dinner, she ruminates on her life and tells the wall about her husband, her children and her past. When her best friend wins an all-expenses-paid trip for two to Greece she packs her bags, heads for the sun and starts to see the world and herself rather differently
This hilariously engaging play, written by Willy Russell, was a hit in London and New York, performed by Pauline Collins, who later recreated her role on film garnering an Oscar nomination.
The Festival Players are delighted to be performing once again at The Martin Theatre after the success of Macbeth last year.
