Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad
Drawing on his own near death in the Belgian Congo, Conrad takes us up the great African river into the heart of Africa.
Led by the character of Marlow, we meet the former idealist Kurtz who has decayed into a monster. This is the ultimate exploration of our own duality and what we might be capable of, given the circumstances.
