The theme of The Big Draw 2015 is "Every Drawing Tells a Story".

All of the activities below are on a drop in basis, suitable for all ages* and free of charge, so here's what will be happening in Sock Gallery for The Big Draw 2015...

Words and Pictures
A solo exhibition by Sarah Glover
Saturday 3rd October – Sunday 25th October 2015

Sarah is a children’s illustrator and book artist from Loughborough who has a fascination with drawing and the relationship between words and pictures.
Come along and see Sarah’s exhibition and be inspired to draw something yourself!  There will be paper and drawing materials available in the Gallery each day and you are welcome to leave your finished work displayed on our dedicated wall in Sock Gallery, or take it home with you, whichever you prefer.  Take a break in this relaxing space and draw for a while.

Meet the Artist
Saturday 3rd October 2015 – 10am-12noon

Sarah Glover will be in Sock Gallery on this Saturday morning if you’d like to call in to meet her and ask about her work.  Sarah will also be introducing her new books "Grandads Tea." and "ABC of a C-A-T.".

Chalkboard Drawing

During our Big Draw 2015 event we will have chalkboards in Sock Gallery for you to fill with wonderful drawings.  Our “word of the week” should be enough to get you started and we’re hoping for lots of different interpretations of that stimulus.  There will be a new word every Monday, so you will have three chances to be creative with chalk!

Autumn Leaf Mural Drop In Workshop
Saturday 10th October 2015 – 10am-12noon and 1pm-3pm

Join our Gallery Co-ordinator in Sock Gallery to create a beautiful autumn leaf for our Autumn Leaf Mural.  After The Big Draw 2015, your finished work will be used to make the mural to be displayed here at Loughborough Town Hall for a period of time.  Keep an eye on our Facebook page: Sock Loughborough for news that it is finished and for photographs, then see it for real as you enter our theatre the next time you come to see a show!

Create a Story Book Drop In Workshop
Saturday 24th October 2015 – 11.30am-1.30pm and 2.30pm-4.30pm

Sit with artist Sarah Glover and stitch a book together, then write or draw your own story inside, or even do a bit of both!  What story will your pictures tell?
Adults can make their own notebook as an alternative, if preferred.

Enter our Recreate a Masterpiece Competition Online
Saturday 3rd October – Sunday 25th October 2015

Choose your favourite masterpiece and then recreate it in your own style!  Post a photograph of your masterpiece on our Facebook Page: Sock Loughborough for us all to enjoy and tell us a bit about it if you’d like to.
Our favourite will win a family ticket to the Gala Night of Loughborough Town Hall’s magical pantomime, Aladdin.  A fantastic prize to match your fantastic masterpiece!

You can find out more about The Big Draw, an international drawing festival here.

Drawing is fun, even if you think you can’t draw!
