Platform - The Studio Launch

Tell a friend:

2nd July 2015 - From 7pm

Venue: Loughborough Town Hall

Celebrate the launch of our studio season with us at this brand new, special event. In collaboration with Nottingham-based company Hatch, who aim to nurture and develop new talent in the East Midlands, we present an evening of free entertainment from some of the most exciting emerging artists in the region.

The event will include the following performances:

LaPelle's Factory - CLOUDCUCKOOLANDERS
It's movie night!  A night in and a night out all at once.LaPelle’s Factory can't have you over to their place – the sofa isn't big enough – so they’re holding tonight at the theatre instead.  Using truth, lies and wild fantasies, your two hosts invite you on a hilarious and mysterious journey that crashes through old films, pop delusions and odd expressions of love.

Flickbook Theatre - Cartography
A tattered OS Map. Outdated, well-loved and a nightmare to fold. Sarah is busy dying. John is grabbing life by the proverbial balls. A show that asks if we’ll know happiness when we get there. @FlickbookTC #Cartography15

Ben Keaton - Father Ted's Father Austin Purcell
Multi award-winning actor and comedian Ben Keaton steps out of the shadows to present a stand up set as Father Austin Purcell – his character from the hit Channel 4 sitcom Father Ted.  Known as 'the most boring priest in the world' Father Austin has insights into plumbing that you can't even imagine.  To quote the man himself  'God put me on this earth to..  ooo look balloons.'

2Magpies Theatre - Ventoux
Ventoux is the most fearsome mountain in France. It is also the story of Lance Armstrong and Marco Pantani - whose drug-fuelled race there in 2000 was the greatest the sport had ever seen.
Join 2Magpies as they restage the race using breathtaking video accompaniment and a pair of road bikes, asking the question - how far will we go to succeed?

In return, we want to hear what you think of the performances! Have a chance to shape how the work develops, and enjoy a drink in the bar with everyone afterwards.

Suitable age: 14+
Please join us from 7pm. The performance will begin at 7.30pm.

Please note that although the event is FREE, booking is required.

We're thrilled to have Loughborough Building Society on board as our sponsors for this event.
