John is one of the best known personalities in sports broadcasting. He has been a member of the Match of the Day team for 40 years and is regarded by many as the voice of football.

He will be discussing his long and varied career as a regular commentator on Match of the Day, Grandstand, Football Focus and Five Live, including from 1979 to 2008, his time as the BBC's voice for the FA Cup, European Championship and World Cup. John’s record-breaking sixth World Cup Final in Berlin in 2006 and his 29th FA Cup Final in May 2008, are an achievement not reached by any other commentator.

The second half of the show will see BBC Radio Leicester sports presenter, Martin Ballard, hosting a question and answer session with John and the audience.

John has also researched and narrated over 30 football videos and written four books, including Motty's Diary - A Year In The Life Of A Commentator, which was published in 1996.
