9th February 2013 - 7.30pm

Venue: Loughborough Town Hall

Best known for his hilarious characters in the Fast Show  (1994-1997)
COMPETITIVE DAD- who never let his kids win
TOMMY COCKLES - totally over the top music hall character
DAVE ANGEL ECO WARRIOR - A classic Essex geezer with a lavish lifestyle and an improbable concern for the future health of the planet.

Simon Day is a great, rather gentle, intelligent stand up comedian,a master of quick repartee, and the  vivid and totally honest author of his very well written autobiography “Comedy and Error” (pub:Simon & Schuster2012)

Simon starts the evening off with some witty gentle stand up,then reads selected passages from his autobiography ‘Comedy and Error’……..which tells the whole story from his troubled youth, leaving school with no qualifications, being sent to Borstal, and  being homeless after making himself unwelcome at both his divorced parents’ homes.

He then went on to develop a gambling habit which later turned into a drug habit, before befriending Vic Reeves & Bob Mortimer when working in a shop below their office. He then began to do Stand Up,eventually touring with them, before  joining the team which produced THE FAST SHOW  (1994-1997) with a farewell national tour in 2002.

The story is told right up to his miraculous rescue from self destructive addiction by a wife who “remained good looking while I got less famous”. “I found I could do nothing with her and still be happy”. The two children which followed only confirmed his newfound happiness.

The evening ends with a question and answer session which will be typically  full of Simon’s rather gentle wit……..and an aftershow booksigning.

Duration 90 mins (no interval) with a book signing afterwards.
