Keeping audiences laughing for well over a century Jerome K Jerome’s classic tale of boating misadventure has become the quintessential example of the charm and wit of Victorian England. Brought to the stage in a brand new adaptation by award winning Original Theatre Company, audiences across the country will be treated to tale of friendship, mischief and folly in a night to remember.

In an attempt to escape the stresses of city life three friends J, Harris and George accompanied by their faithful canine companion Montmorency decide to take to the river in order to relax and rejuvenate. The holiday, however, quickly unravels and descends into chaos.

Originally intended as a guide to boating on the Thames, Jerome’s ripping yarn of youthful misadventure celebrates the very essence of Britishness. Initially derided by critics, Three Men in a Boat became an enormous hit in its day, spreading to an international audience and global success.  After Jerome’s death in 1927, his work went on to attain cult status, inspiring many of our comic legends from Morecambe and Wise to Monty Python.

In this the Diamond Jubilee and Olympic year, critically acclaimed Original Theatre Company take this classic tale of British misadventure and folly by the scruff of the neck.  Equipped with a working pub, some ale, music hall singing, live piano accompaniment, a dog and a feast of physical comedy, settle yourself in for a night out to remember.

The first reviews are now in:

"After a long and dreary day at work Three Men in a Boat is as welcome as a gin and tonic on a hot summer’s day.  ......  The main testament to this show is the fact the whole audience, which ranged from 8 to 80, were in stiches, which means it is extremely likely that you, your mother, your grandmother and even your dog will enjoy this show. "  What's On Stage

"A masterly adaptation of Jerome K Jerome’s 1889 episodic novel, Three Men in a Boat, with a performance by The Original Theatre Company that is well co-ordinated, uproariously funny, and evidently very well-rehearsed."   The Public Reviews

"The ways in which they convey riding in a horse and cart, a train journey or the boat, are all highly inventive and often involve great timing not only from the actors but also from the sound desk."   The Stage

"The Original Theatre Company lives up to their name, carefully reworking Jerome K Jerome’s old favourite to make it their own."  The Argus
