Combining natural and geometric form remains a strong feature, Vivienne’s work and fuses her love of pattern and colour and the wonderful medium of watercolour with her other passion of plants and gardening. As a contrast to the more complex compositions, she enjoys painting plant portraits. Vivienne is based locally and is a member of the Leicester Society of Artists.

Demonstration day:  Vivienne will be in the gallery between 10am – 4pm on Saturday 15th October demonstrating her painting skill, feel free to just drop in, no pre-booking will be required.

 

Vivienne’s professional painting career began in 2005, after running an art and design department in Further Education for several years.  She has enjoyed considerable success in exhibiting both locally and nationally. She runs courses in watercolour  painting and art groups regularly invite her to demonstrate and lead workshops. She is a member of  the Leicester Society of Artists (LSA) and an associate member of The Royal Birmingham Society of Artists (ARBSA). She has won numerous prizes for her work, the most recent being The Royal Talens award in The Artist Magazine’s exhibition at the 2011 Patching’s Art and Design Festival.

 

Having trained as a textile designer, pattern, colour and natural form remain important to her and are the main focus for her compositions. The inspiration for a painting usually begins with the flowers - their colour and shape along with their relationship to fabrics and patterns. She loves the contrast of natural form with geometric pattern. Her aim is not to produce faithful reproductions, but to be inspired by the information in front of her to produce a spontaneous reaction through which she aims to keep her painting alive and fresh.
